The forum was launched by a number of academicians and corporate representatives to create voice of individuals in the space of higher education, with a strong belief that reforms in higher education are imperative, if India is to find a place in the League of Nations on a sustainable basis in the years to come. It was started as a Google group about a year ago and continues to be so. The forum is shortly becoming a legal entity of Public Trust and aims to emerge as the voice of practitioners for reforms in various areas of higher education in India.

Though it started with hardly 10-15 members, slowly it developed into a movement and today has emerged as the largest such community in India with more than 3,500 members. Members encompass representatives from all sectors of higher education on a pan-India basis. The forum has now slowly started moving into a paid membership concept as some funding is essential to carry out its activities.
