HEF Focus on Activities

  1. Act as a think tank in respect of higher education in the Indian context and facilitating development of a Policy Document.

  2. Undertake applied research in areas relevant to higher education on a continuous basis and publish working papers on various areas to support government & private initiatives with regard to reforms in higher education. The forum also proposes to come out with a bi-annual journal christened as "Indian Journal of Higher Education". The first issue of the journal has already come out.

  3. Organize series of academic discussions / debate both on virtual as well as physical space on issues / concerns related to higher education.

  4. Help government and the private sector initiatives in implementation of the reforms in areas of higher education.

  5. Organize regional meets / conferences in various locations on pan-India basis to create awareness about the forum as well as debate some of the relevant & pertinent issues in the realm of higher education.

  6. Conceptualize and deliver training programs / workshops for different stakeholders to cater to specific KSAs (knowledge, skill & attitude).

  7. Act in any manner and support any activity (ies) that aim at enhancing quality, excellence and innovation in any area of higher education in India.

  8. Network with Indian as well as international institutions / organizations that have the common goal of achieving excellence in higher education endeavors.

  9. Organize HEF Annual Convention.

Activities conducted by HEF

  1. 1st HEF Members meet at Mumbai.

  2. Organized 6 regional conferences at Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune & Vadodara.

  3. One half-day workshop for librarians of institutions of higher learning at Mumbai on the topic "integrating library resources with teaching learning process in higher education".

  4. Two one day faculty development programs for newly recruited faculty members on "Several aspects relating to improving their teaching & related skills" at Mumbai & Kolkata.

  5. Discussion on "WTO negotiations and India : Current Status" at Mumbai.

  6. The Forum successfully concluded its First Annual Convention at Mumbai on 6th March, 2010.

  7. The Forum has come out with the first issue of its bi-annual journal christened as "Indian Journal of Higher Education".

  8. HEF has set up HEF Chapters at three locations namely, Pune, Kolkata and Vadodara.

  9. HEF has entered into academic tie-up with the leading daily Free Press Journal (FPJ) for a column to be published in FPJ authored by HEF members on alternative weeks as : "Voice of Higher Education Forum : towards an Educated India".

  10. Focused Group Discussion on "NCHER Act" at Mumbai.

  11. Round table on "Right to Education Act" at Mumbai.

  12. Faculty Development Programs on "Case Teaching" & "Teaching through Films & Simulation Games" at Mumbai.

  13. Benchmarking workshop In collaboration with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK at Mumbai and Pune.

  14. Teachers Day celebration at Pune.

  15. Round Table Discussion on "Seamless Integration of Skilling and Education" in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Young Indians (Yi) at Mumbai.

  16. Launch of Free Library Services in collaboration with All India Senior Citizens' Confederation (AISCCON) at Mumbai.

  17. Launch of HEF youth wing by arranging a talk by Ms Jaya Row, the promoter of Vedanta Foundation and renowned motivational speaker on "building values and ethics among young managers" at Mumbai.

  18. Intellectual Deliberation Series on "IFRS and its implications" by Mr. Sunder Iyer, Partner, Price Waterhouse, Mumbai, India.
